The classic Belgian beer style!Slaapmutske Tripel pours an attractive pale gold, slightly cloudy, sitting under a large white creamy head. Smell is of big Belgian yeast aromas - soft ripe fruits, candy sugar, sweet bready malts and floral hops.
Tasting reveals the biscuity malt body, fresh tropical fruits (orange, mandarin, banana), gentle spicing and a subtle hop bite. The mouthfeel is full bodied, though it dries out as the beer progresses, leaving a slightly spicy bitter aftertaste.
This is a very easy drinking beer, with just a slight warmth the only hint of the 8.1% alcohol volume. It is a really balanced representation of the style.
About the beer: this beer was Dany's third creation, first put to market back in 2002. It is marketed as 'Tripel Nightcap' in the US. When it was first presented at the 2002 International Beer Festival in Zwevergem (West Flanders), it was voted as 'Best Beer in it's Class'!
