Brouwerij De Graal's newest innovation is the Quest.
The beer sits somewhere between a strong blond ale and a traditional tripel style. It is a pale yellow colour with a very consistent fluffy white head. The beer looks a very attractive proposition in the glass.
The flavour profile borrows from the two different styles. There is sweetness up front with some banana and melon notes, and a little candy. Lemon citrus then seems to take over, accompanied by crisp grains and some gentle spicing. As the beer progresses, the bitterness comes through along with a gentle warmth from the alcohol. The beer is very light bodied, with a nice finish.
Beer Fact: Brewer Wim has a PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences, and has applied his past technical ability to that of his present passion. The De Graal Quest is recognised as a sugar free beer. The beer has no unfermented (residual) sugars, which sees it pass the tolerances for sugar free status.
