This saison is an unfiltered, deep orange colour with a solid, rocky white foam which slowly falls away. Bready malts, floral hops, citrus rind and a funky yeast combine for a simple but pleasant aroma.
The taste is predominantly herbal and floral. There is not much sweetness, but rather a dry, spicy tartness that carries through. There are also hints of lemon and green apples.
Overall this is a well balanced saison, the dry palette resulting in a refreshing beer which is very drinkable. A great example of an older beer style, currently enjoying a revival through wellpresented brews such as this one by the impressive Brewery De Ranke.
