This beer is from a brewer who is rapidly gaining international recognition. The interestingly named De Dochter van de Korenaar brewery is producing some great beers.
Embrasse pours deep amber brown, with red tinges when held to the light. It is topped by a creamy, light tan head that lasts to the very end. The nose suggests dry bready malts, ripe dark cherries and a slightly smoky, astringent streak.
The layers of flavours make this a fantastically complex beer. A strong malt base supports the fruit flavours, along with the slight tart edge. As the beer warms the smokiness develops a little. This beer will keep developing for many years.
