The Bink Bruin is dark brown to black, with a mahogany tinge and a decent mocha head full of tiny bubbles. The smell is both fruity and yeasty, with the dark malts presenting as dark dried fruits and mild sugary caramel.
There are malty caramel flavours, as well as sweet fruits. But these are balanced by the hop bitterness, which is more than normal for a Belgian dark ale. The bite of the hops leaves thisbeer with a refreshingly dry finish, avoiding the cloying sweetness that some dark beers display.
At 5.5% ABV, this beer definitely punches above its weight in flavour and is truly a satisfying drop.
