It pours a dark amber to brown colour, with a khaki head. The aroma is an enticing mix of sweet bready malt, dried dark stone fruits, Belgian candy and strong Belgian yeast characteristics.
The flavour is full and rich. All the elements noticed in the aroma come thorugh in the taste. A really luxurious sweetness of malts, fruits and candy, though without being cloying at all. Spicing helps balance out the sweetness, and there is a little warmth on the finish.
The Monks recommend a serving temperature of 10-12 degrees celcius to get the best out of this beer. We recommend you follow their advice – they’ve been brewing for more than 150 years, so they should know what they are talking about!!
Did you know?: the Chimay Blue was originally brewed as a Christmas beer, hence the vintage year reference on the labels.
