Brasserie Dupont is without doubt known for their Saison Dupont, which is held out as a benchmark in the Belgian saison style. But as most breweries do, they make a lot of other good beers and this is one of them.
The Moinette label is one you will commonly see in Belgian beer bars, and in fact this beer is considered to be the flagship of the Dupont range.
The beer is a slightly hazy gold in colour with a big fluffy white foam. The aroma is full of grainy malts, sweet yellow fruits and Belgian yeast.
There is an early fruit sweetness inviting you in. Banana, pear and a little citrus bite. This combines with the smooth malt flavour, which is cut with a degree of herbal hop bitterness that sharpens things up toward the finish.
Beers like this are dangerously easy to drink. The balance of flavouts and full, smooth body make this beer an easier proposition than the ABV might suggest.
As expected for a brewery of Dupont’s standing, this is an excellent beer.
