This is the second beer we’ve featured from ‘The Brew Society’, after including the Martha Brown Eyes last year. And that beer was a big hit!
The Brew Society was a social enterprise set up to help small brewers and offer contract brewing and bottlings services. And of course they have their own label being the series of ‘Martha’ beers.
Martha was a girl born in Heule in the 1920’s, known for her love of beer this is tribute to her recipe for her favourite beer. A good story, and after the success of Martha Brown Eyes last year, we were quietly anticipating big things from this beer, and to be fair we weren’t let down.
This beer presents a lovely yellow gold body, with an inviting Belgian yeast aroma full of spice and citrus, backed by the grainy malt.
The flavours are crisp and sharp, the beer is very lively so be careful with your pour. There is a light but full grainy body as hinted in the aroma. There is also lemon citrus and yellow stone fruits, coupled with a fresh grassy hop bitterness and slightly spicy yeast character.
Deceptively easy to drink for the ABV, it finishes quite light and dry, with a tickling peppery zing and a solid bitterness that invites another sip.
