We know that La Debauche make LOTS of different beers, but they do seem to have developed a core range of beers over the last couple of years, and this little can falls into that box.
I’m not a coffee drinker at all, in fact I often don’t even like the strong coffee smell. So some beers are a challenge if there is too much coffee character, so it was with great trepidation that I grabbed this beer to write the notes this month. Here goes...
The beer pours quite dark, almost black really, with a thick mocha head. Even without getting my nose near the glass, I can get the strong scent of coffee.
Trying to breathe out through my nose as I take a sip, I find the coffee aroma stronger than the actual taste. There is some light roasty malts early with the coffee fighting through at the back end and lingering in the dry, roasty finish.
If you are a coffee lover, you’ll love this beer. Hell – have it for breakfast, it is only 5.0% ABV and there’s a poem to read on the side of the can while you sip it!
